Effective from this point on each new issue of The Ill will be uploaded on the 15th of each month. This will allow me to stay on schedule, as well as allow me time to work on the upcoming The Ill #0 (more on that later, but it will be quite fun and interesting and odd). Thanks for reading!

I want the secret origins of Malefactor's burn scars.

Not sure if you have ever read Wanted or Irredeemable, but I see a little of both in this, and that is a great thing.

btw I am subscribed, and this update on Jan 8 did not show up. Not sure why that would be.

I've not read either of those, but I know of them...hoping there aren't many similarities, the last thing I'd want is for someone to think I'm lifting others' ideas. I've maybe not made it clear, but Malefactor is basically a Bizarro analogue (his scars are just his imperfect cloning showing itself). No idea about the update...thanks for the replies, Quetz, I TRULY appreciate your enthusiasm for the series. Can't wait to get your reaction to some of the bigger stuff coming up.

I wasn't implying that at all... those two are examples of recent-ish comics that sort of turn the superhero genre on its head, like The Ill does. I would go so far as to say that The Ill does what those do, but it has an even richer mythology behind it. Never during Wanted did it occur to me there might be back issues and that I want to read them. I have felt like that multiple times while reading The Ill.

Besides, even if you did crib something from an existing story, purposely or accidentally, the genre is a rich font by this point, with a hundred years or so of history behind it. If multiple imaginations draw on it, who is to complain?

I figured Mal was like Bizarro, but I was hoping he got scarred by Ben's heat vision or flung into the heart of a dyiing star or something like that. Birth defects are good though. Maybe that's where he gets his inferiority complex.

That comment about wanting to read back issues of 'books' referenced in The Ill is the ultimate compliment and I thank you. I was actually debating doing an issue of 'The Entropy Event II', in color with slightly-yellowed pages, just as a look back at that 'era' for these characters. You'll definitely see some stuff from the past, including an adventure of the original Golden Age Inferno and a particular adventure in 'the days before days were numbered' that the current Inferno had just after the second Entropy Event (it was their 'Crisis'). I don't want to run the retro covers into the ground, but I'm pretty proud of some of the ones coming up in the next storyarc, 'The Five Corners Of The World'.
