I told a friend just before I started this comic that I sort of looked at it as 'The Sgt. Pepper album cover, as if it were a comic book story'. Another way I see it is as a cake--the cake itself is the superhero genre and all its tropes, the icing is MY touch, the little details, the flavor. With all that said, The Ill is littered with my favorite things--one of which being Black Sabbath's 'Iron Man'. I was moved emotionally when I first heard it as a kid, listening intently to the story it told, cheering for the unnamed hero at the end while fearing him and being horrified at his actions. Mean Girl referenced a Jim Morrison lyric awhile back, and look up the meaning of the 'Rex Stellio' Zayne used to refer to. This is superhero wonder, with a healthy dose of pop culture and the things I love.

I always rooted for him. He sacrificed himself to save "mankind" and they forgot all about him.
I though he deserved his vengeance.

btw personally I never look for a Jim Morrison lyric when a Pink Floyd one will do.

Viva The Ill!
